Orders on Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro arriving from next week

The new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro is now available to order from Apple’s online store. With deliveries set to start from next week, April 20th. A few weeks earlier than first anticipated by Apple of a May release date.

Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro offers the “best typing experience ever on iPad”. To achieve this, a full-size keyboard with backlit keys and a new scissor mechanism has been implemented. While the iPad Pro itself magnetically attaches and floats above the keyboard.

The new floating design means it is now possible to smoothly adjust the viewing angle of the iPad. Unlike previous versions where it was limited to specific angles – often only one or two choices. With Magic Keyboard, the viewing angle can be anywhere between 90 and 130 degrees.

For charging Apple has made some new additions too. For the first time, the keyboard offers a USB-C charging port. Meaning not only can the iPad Pro and keyboard be powered simultaneously. But it keeps the USC-C port of the iPad Pro free for accessories. Including external storage drives, displays, and more.

New trackpad support on iPad

However, perhaps one of the most exciting new features Apple has added to the Magic Keyboard is a trackpad. A click-anywhere trackpad lies just under the keyboard allowing for fluid navigation. It is also multi-touch enabling gestures without having to lift your hands from the keyboard. Last month Apple released a free software update for iPadOS bringing trackpad support.

  1. This is very helpful as I’m helping a friend who takes delivery as a gift from me of a Mac book air tomorrow (5 May) however I’m trying to convince him to go for an I pad pro instead as a lap top replacement. Given the updates and the new keyboard I think it’s the way to go. Expensive but it’s Apple after all.
