A large number of Westfield shopping centres around Australia have gained indoor maps on Apple Maps. Including Westfield Sydney, Chatswood, Belconnen, South Gate, West Lakes, and many more. Allowing you to navigate and get detailed directions to stores and services on each level. It is the first time Apple has brought Indoor Maps to shopping centres here in Australia.
Indoor Maps
When searching or moving to a Westfield shopping centre in Apple Maps there will now be a new 3D model of the shopping centre. Along with a Tap “look inside” or selecting “Browse Westfield <location>”. If the centre has indoor maps added, maps will now reveal a complete layout of each level. Showing individual retail stores, the location of lifts, bathrooms, escalators, concierge, and more.
Indoor maps is a much better way of being able to navigate and find your way around. Previously Apple Maps, like many map applications, show icons for each store layered over the top of each other. Making it difficult to know which store the level was on.

Apple has been increasingly adding features to Apple Maps in Australia. Including the addition of transit directions, lane guidance, traffic, and now indoor maps. A number of months ago Sydney Airport gained indoor maps with a full layout of each terminal. Showing terminal numbers, security checkpoint, gate numbers, services, and more.

At time of writing, Westfield Sydney had become one of the first locations I had noticed. However, I have since found many other Westfield Centres around Australia which have been mapped out. These include:

- Westfield Knox (VIC)
- Westfield Plenty Valley (VIC)
- Westfield Airport West (VIC)
- Westfield Geelong (VIC)

- Westfield West Lakes (VIC)
- Westfield Belconnen (ACT)
- Westfield Woden (ACT)
- Westfield Tree Plaza (SA)
- Westfield Innaloo (WA)
With many more seemingly being added. Indoor Maps on Apple Maps is available on iOS 11 and newer on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
Update: Brisbane Airport and Melbourne Airport have also gained Indoor Maps.
