iOS 12.1 Update With New Features Arriving Tonight

Apple iOS 12 for iPhone and iPad

On the eve of their Special Event, Apple has announced iOS 12.1 will be available later today. Bringing a number of new features to iPhone and iPad including new emoji, Group FaceTime, and more.

New Features

iOS 12.1 is the first major update to iOS 12 that included new features and significant performance improvements. Some features which were actually announced for iOS 12, but were delayed, arrive in iOS 12.1. Most notably, Group FaceTime which allows you to video call up to 32 people at once.

In addition, the new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone Xr gain some unique new features. This includes dual-SIM support allowing you to use your phone with two telecommunication carriers. Great for roaming or when you have a separate number for personal and work.

70 new emoji which I have previously highlighted also arrive in this new update. Including new characters with red hair, grey hair and curly hair, a new emoji for bald people, more emotive smiley faces and additional emoji representing animals, sports and food. All new emoji also arrive on the Mac and Apple Watch.

Release Date
