Apple Charlestown added as close contact COVID-19 exposure site

Apple Charlestown in the outskirts of Newcastle, NSW, has temporarily closed due to becoming a COVID-19 exposure location. And won’t re-open until at least August 13th, as a result, and due of the lockdown.

On Friday NSW Health advised via a media release that several retail venues were of concern, after being associated with confirmed cases of COVID-19. One of which was the Apple Store in Charlestown, known as ‘Apple Charlestown’.

The person with COVID-19 visited the store on Thursday, 29th July from 3.20pm through to 3.55pm. Anyone who was there during those times is considered a close contact. And therefore must get tested and isolate for 14 days regargless of the result.

Apple has since updated its website to confirm that the store is tempoarily closed for several days. Typically Apple will deep-clean a store and re-open the next day, therefore, the extended closure is likely due to the lockdown.

NSW is currently experiencing its largest COVID challenge to date, with thousands of active cases due to the outbreak of the Delta variant. Much of the state is now in ‘Stay at Home Orders’.

A full list of current active COVID-19 locations and venues of concern can be viewed at: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/covid-19/Pages/case-locations-and-alerts.aspx

Apple is advising to shop at its online store in the meantime.
