Apple has overnight unveiled its first official MagSafe external battery pack for iPhone. With easy on-the-go charging by simply magnetically attaching to the back of your iPhone. And is available to order from Apple online at a recommended retail price of A$139.
The MagSafe Battery Pack is a small Apple-designed accessory that contains a built-in battery and built-in magnets. These magnets allow it to magnetically attach to the back of an iPhone. Once attached will charge the iPhone, providing more and longer battery life. In what is essentially on-the-go wireless charging.
Apple has also made it easy to charge the MagSafe Battery Pack and check its charging status. In a support document, Apple has outlined how to use your MagSafe Battery Pack, among other things. While also showing that it is possible to see the charging indicator on the Home Screen and Today View on iPhones running iOS 14.7 and later.
Compatible iPhones
As the battery pack is a MagSafe product, a MagSafe iPhone is required. And at the time of writing (July 2021), only the most current-generation iPhone models are MagSafe-compatible. These include:
- iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini
- iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max
Later in the year, Apple is expected to announce next-generation iPhone models, which should also be compatible.

In Australia, the Apple MagSafe Battery Pack for iPhone is priced at a recommended retail price (RRP) of A$139. It can be purchased online from Apple’s online store with free delivery and 14-day returns.
