The range of Apple Services available in Australia expanded this morning with the announcement of Apple Fitness+, a workout fitness service built for Apple Watch. Featuring studio-quality workout videos for beginners to experts, while incorporating metrics from Apple Watch.
“We’re so excited to energise our customers with new ways to get active and stay active with Apple Watch,” said Jay Blahnik, Apple’s senior director of fitness for Health Technologies. “With diverse studio workouts that are suitable for all ability levels, led by a phenomenal group of unique trainers, and an approachable program designed for beginners through to the fitness enthusiast — as well as the flexibility to work out anywhere — there’s something for everyone. We know Fitness+ will take working out with Apple Watch to the next level with unparalleled engagement, convenience, and inspiration.”
Studio-quality workouts
Each week more workouts will become available from world-class trainers. Including Cycling, Treadmill, Rowing, HIIT, Strength, Yoga, Dance, Core, and Mindful Cooldown workouts. Every one of them can be selected and begun via the Fitness+ App on iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. The correct workout will then begin on Apple Watch – automatically.
While working out, health data from the Apple Watch, such as heart rate are displayed on the screen. This information may vary depending on the stage of the workout. For example, when the trainer says to check heart rate those numbers will animate on the screen. And those who like to push themselves can turn on an optional Burn Bar. Burn Bar shows how their current effort stacks up against anyone who has done the same workout previously.
Many workouts do not require any equipment – however, some may require a set of dumbbells. While those who choose a Treadmill session have the option to sync their Apple Watch to a GymKit-enabled machine. – ensuring both Fitness+, the treadmill, and Apple Watch are in sync.
