AMD Radeon Pro 5600M Available for 16-inch MacBook Pro

Apple has updated the configuration options for the 16-inch MacBook Pro on its online store. Adding the option for a new high-end AMD Radeon Pro 5600M dedicated graphics card. Available for an additional A$1,200, though teachers and students can save A$120.

The AMD Radeon Pro 5600M brings desktop-class graphics to the portable MacBook Pro. And is designed to handle demanding applications and graphics-intensive workloads. Such as Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro X, 3D rendering, CAD software, and more.

According to Apple, the 5600M GPU is up to 75% faster than the 5500M GPU. To achieve this the 5600M GPU has 40 compute units and 8GB of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM2), with 394GB/s of memory bandwidth.

Pricing and Availability

Upgrading to the 5600M is only possible when customising a MacBook Pro when purchasing from Apple’s online store. Other configuration options include upgrading the processor, more memory RAM and storage, and pre-installed software.

In Australia, the 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at a recommended retail price of A$3,799. The AMD Radeon Pro 5600M then costs an additional A$1,200 bringing the price to A$4,999. Teachers and students can save a massive A$445. With the 16-inch MacBook Pro with 5600M GPU costing A$4,559.
