Apple Announces Online WWDC 2020

an all-new online format due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic

Apple has announced its annual Worldwide Developers Conference for 2020. But as expected, this years WWDC will be an all-new online format due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic around the world.

Millions of creative and innovative developers will be able to get early access to future software platforms from Apple. Including future versions of iOS (iOS 14), iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. All while being able to engage with Apple engineers over the internet. Whether one-on-one or group video chats with engineers will be possible is yet to be confirmed.

This June, WWDC20 brings a completely new online experience to millions of talented and creative developers around the world.


Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing has confirmed the format will offer “online keynote and sessions, offering a great learning experience for our entire developer community, all around the world.”. And that “We will be sharing all of the details in the weeks ahead.”

Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering has gone on to say “With all of the new products and technologies we’ve been working on, WWDC 2020 is going to be big,”. Therefore, it should be no surprise that Apple will unveil new software and products during the opening keynote.

Dates and Times

The online-only WWDC event will be held in June, the same month it is typically held each year. However, Apple has not yet confirmed exactly which dates or when the keynote will begin.

Streaming and attending WWDC 2020 virtually is all possible via the Apple Developer app available on the App Store. And on the Apple Developer website, which is where Apple is promising to share additional program information in the future.
