Winners of the First-Ever Apple Music Awards

Billie Eilish has been named Global Artist of the Year at the first-ever Apple Music Awards. While achievements in music across five other categories were given out. Acknowledging their impact on global culture throughout the year.

Music from all awarded artists can, of course, be streamed on Apple Music. While a live performance from Billie Eilish at the Steve Jobs Theatre will be held on 5 December at 1:30 p.m. AEDT.

Global Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Break-through Artist of the Year were chosen by Apple Music’s global editorial team. The same team which handpick music for the many playlists on Apple Music.

Awards for Album of the Year and Song of the Year were however given out based on streaming data. A reflection on what the millions of Apple Music customers have been streaming throughout 2019.

The awards for the first-ever Apple Music Awards are as follows:

Artist of the Year: Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish’s full-length debut album “WHEN WE FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” is the Apple Music Awards’ Album of the Year.

Breakthrough Artist of the Year: Lizzo

Lizzo received a year’s-best eight Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year for “Cuz I Love You.”

Song of the Year: “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X

Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” was the most-played single of the year on Apple Music.

Songwriter of the Year: FINNEAS

“WHEN WE FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” was co-written and produced by Billie Eilish’s brother, FINNEAS.
