NETGEAR adds HomeKit to Arlo Cameras

Free cloud storage, Smart person detection and Call a friend feature

At CES 2019 Netgear announced Apple HomeKit will be coming soon to their Arlo range of smart security cameras. Alongside the HomeKit announcement, the company launched the a 4K Arlo Ultra camera with a built-in light for full colour night vision.

The Arlo camera line is a simple way to make your home or office more secure. Arlo is 100% wire free simply attach the camera to a magnetic wall or table mount and you are ready to go. It also comes with free Arlo Basic plan gives you access to motion- and audio-triggered recordings from the past 7 days.

The recently announced Arlo Ultra seems like overkill with its 4K camera but the company suggests the higher quality camera makes it easier to identify smaller items in the camera feed such as peoples faces and car number plates. Arlo notes that you’ll have to pay an additional subscription fee if you want to store the clips in their maximum resolution in the cloud. Otherwise, a microSD card slot is available for local recording.

The new Security Pack includes a Siren which can be indoor or outdoor and acts as a solid deterrent,  it also comes with a keychain with Arm and Disarm button, you can simply press to activate your Arlo System.

HomeKit support will be coming in the next couple of months to Arlo Pro, Pro 2 and Ultra cameras.

Alongside Apple HomeKit support Arlo currently also supports Alexa, Google Home, IFTTT and the recently announced ‘Works with Arlo’ program.
