iTunes Movies & TV Shows Coming To Samsung Smart TVs

In a surprise announcement, Samsung and Apple have revealed the iTunes Movies & TV Shows app is coming to Samsung Smart TVs. Making it the first time the service has arrived on a product other than Apple and a Windows PC. And yet another sign that Apple is interested in further pushing their services.

iTunes Movies & TV Shows app on Samsung will allow you to watch and stream Movies and TV Shows from the iTunes store. With the ability to rent or buy movies and TV Shows in HD. And movies in up to 4K HDR quality. It will also be possible to access your existing iTunes library and purchases you have made.

“We look forward to bringing the iTunes and AirPlay 2 experience to even more customers around the world through Samsung Smart TVs, so iPhone, iPad and Mac users have yet another way to enjoy all their favourite content on the biggest screen in their home,” said Eddy Cue, senior vice president of Internet Software and Services at Apple.

Part of today’s announcement is AirPlay 2, Apple’s wireless streaming standard. It too will be arriving on Samsung Smart TVs. Allowing you to wireless play videos, photos, music, podcasts and more from Apple devices directly to Samsung Smart TVs. This includes devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and more.

Samsung has confirmed AirPlay 2 will arrive to their QLED 4K and 8K TVs. As well as The Frame and Serif lifestyle TVs, as well as other Samsung UHD and HD models.

When

iTunes Movies & TV Shows App will launch on 2019 Samsung TVs and selected 2018 models from Autumn (Spring in the US). More than 100 countries will get the service at launch, with Samsung yet to confirm if Australia is one of those. AirPlay 2 on Samsung TVs will arrive in more than 190 countries.
