Australia is one of only three countries which will get HomePod on release. That was due to occur next month in time for Christmas. Apple, however, has officially delayed the release until 2018.
HomePod Delay
In a statement, Apple has confirmed they need a “little more time” to get the HomePod speaker ready and will now release the Sir-enabled speaker in early 2018.
“We can’t wait for people to experience HomePod, Apple’s breakthrough wireless speaker for the home, but we need a little more time before it’s ready for our customers. We’ll start shipping in the US, UK, and Australia in early 2018.” – Apple
No specific date was given indicating it could be anytime in January 2018, or later.
Announced early in the year, HomePod is Apple’s first smart speaker which has Siri and Apple Music built-in. It features a large, Apple-designed woofer for deep, clean bass, a custom array of seven beam-forming tweeters that provide pure high-frequency acoustics with incredible directional control and powerful technologies built right in to preserve the richness and intent of the original recordings.
Release and Pricing
HomePod will now release in “early 2018” in Australia, the UK and US with specific Australian pricing still yet to be announced. Apple has confirmed US pricing will be US$349 suggesting the price in Australia will likely be A$500 or under.
