While announcing significant updates to the iMac line-up, Apple unveiled the iMac Pro, a brand new Mac computer designed for high-end professionals. Scheduled to be released in Australia during December 2017.
The iMac Pro is a workstation-class Mac that has been designed to perform some of the most demanding tasks out there. This includes advanced video and graphics editing, virtual reality creation, and real-time 3D rendering. To do this, Apple has put advanced technology inside the iMac Pro that makes it the most powerful Mac ever.
“We’re thrilled to give developers and customers a sneak peek at iMac Pro. This will be our fastest and most powerful Mac ever, which brings workstation-class computing to iMac for the first time,” said John Ternus, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering. “We reengineered the whole system and designed an entirely new thermal architecture to pack extraordinary performance into the elegant, quiet iMac enclosure our customers love — iMac Pro is a huge step forward and there’s never been anything like it.”
The iMac Pro is packed with fast Xeon processors with up to 18-cores, the new Radeon Pro Vega graphics chip, and an all-flash architecture. Supporting up to 4TB of SSD storage and 128GB of ECC memory.
All of this technology has been put inside a new space grey enclosure which tapers down to just 5mm at the edges and features a 27-inch Retina 5K display that now supports 1 billion colours.
