Find Your Way Around Sydney with Transit Directions on Apple Maps

Apple Maps Transport Sydney

Knowing how to get around Sydney has become a whole lot easier with Apple enabling transit maps and directions on it’s Apple Maps service giving you real-time public transport information and directions. This is the first time the feature has been enabled in Australia.

The feature works the same way you get directions via walking or driving, you simply search or tap where you want to go and you’ll see how to get there by public transport. Those transport options include trains, trams, ferries, light rail (trams) and even buses, arriving just weeks after many bus routes changed with the closure of George Street.

Bringing you public transport information for buses, trains, trams and ferries with lines and stations right there on the map.

Apple have also taken the time to detail every train and tram station (even how they appear underground), ferry wharf, by highlighting them in red and factoring travel time to walk or travel to those stations. When you get directions, you will know exactly what time you’re going to get to your destination.

Public transport isn’t always perfect, with disruptions happening sometimes daily without you knowing. Apple Maps will display an alert if your transport may be late (however it does appear this is only on selected transport modes so far, with the most notable being Sydney Trains.)

No word yet on when other cities, such as Melbourne, will be receiving transit maps, but with the service now available in Australia it is likely not to be too long for it to be expanded.

  • Real-time transport information.
  • Includes train, light rail (trams), ferry and bus network.
  • Disruptions and delays alerts.
