Apple has announced its original video streaming service, Apple TV+, will launch on November 1st, 2019. But they have also unveiled a deal where you get one year of Apple TV+ – free. With the purchase of selected products.
The purpose of this article is to explain what the offer is, eligible devices, and how you can get a years subscription of Apple TV+.
Offer Details
Starting September 10th, 2019 the purchase of eligible products (listed below) will also include a bonus year of Apple TV+. With Apple TV+ costing A$7.99 a month, it means the offer is worth A$95.88.
The yearly offer can be claimed within the ‘Apple TV app’ on the device purchased. Apple states you must claim the offer within the first three months of owning the device. But the three months begins from November 1st when the service launches.
Eligible Devices
Apple products which are eligible for the offer include any: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, or iPod Touch. And it does include both new and certified refurbished models.
Apple is not restricting the offer depending on where the eligible products were sold either. This means eligible products sold from Apple, Apple online, resellers, telcos, and more are all part of the offer.
This also means those who pre-ordered and purchased the new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max will get one month free Apple TV+. These products were released on September 20th, 2019 and are available in many retail and online stores.
Family Members
Up to six members of one family can share the one Apple TV+ subscription. Each member will even get their login allowing them to watch and stream their favourites Apple originals.
However, only one one-year free Apple TV+ subscription can be claimed within the one family. If all family members have purchased a new eligible product, unfortunately, it does not mean six years free Apple TV+.
More Details
The claimed Apple TV+ subscription will continue automatically past the one year – unless cancelled. This can be done right up until the day before the offer ends. However, you can cancel the subscription at any time, but Apple says once cancelled you cannot restart the offer.
Apple TV+ will launch in over 100 countries, including Australia, on November 1st. At a monthly price of A$7.99 inc. GST with a 7-day trial.
Exclusive Apple original content on the service will include series, movies, and documentaries. The first three episodes of most series will be available at the launch of the service. Followed by the release of more episodes each week.
