Apple TV 4K is an entertainment device that allows you to enjoy TV shows, movies, music, games, and more on your big-screen TV. And is one the whole family can experience. But with multiple users using the one Apple TV many have been asking for multi-user support for some years now – it seems Apple has got the message.
tvOS, which is the operating system of Apple TV will be updated to bring new features and personalised experiences with one of them being multi-user support. Allowing personalised recommendations and access to individual users TV shows, movies and music.

Multi-user support isn’t the only new feature tvOS 13 is going to bring. A new home screen, support for Apple Arcade and additional gaming controllers, new 4K HDR screensavers, and more will also be arriving.
tvOS 13 Features
- New Home Screen: Full-screen video previews of new TV shows, movies, music, and games
- Multi-user support: Family members can switch to their own account for their own personalised entertainment
- Apple Arcade: Apple’s upcoming gaming subscription service will be supported on Apple TV. Allowing you to have access and play over 100 new and exclusive games. With no ads or additional purchases. Apple Arcade will be arriving at other platforms by Apple, such as iPadOS, iOS 13, and macOS
- Gaming Controllers: Two of the most popular gaming controllers in the world will be supported by Apple TV. Xbox Wireless Controller with Bluetooth and PlayStation DualShock 4
- Apple Music: Personalised music, recommendations, and playlists for each user. Plus there will be the options for onscreen lyrics that will be timed in sync with the song
- New screen savers: Expanded 4K HDR screen savers will take viewers under the sea. The new screensavers were filmed in collaboration with the BBC Natural History Unit. The same team which were behind “Blue Planet”
Availability and Release Date
tvOS 13 is currently being tested around the world in a developer and Public Beta test. tvOS 13 can now be installed on your Apple TV 4K by simply joining the public beta at https://beta.apple.com/. However, you should expect some bugs and issues during the beta period.
The final release of tvOS 13 will be available as a free software update in Australia during Spring, 2019 – likely around September. In the meantime Apple TV 4K can be purchased from Apple’s online store at the recommended retail price of A$249.
