Bang & Olufsen’s New A9 Speaker Includes Apple AirPlay 2

One of the most iconic speakers by the Danish brand

The BeoPlay A9 is one of the most iconic speakers by Danish brand Bang & Olufsen. It was originally announced in 2012 as a home speaker that can be hung on the wall, or left standing on its three wooden legs. Its size and design enables it to either blend or stand out within your home inteterior.

Now seven years after its original release, Bang & Olufsen has revealed an update by introducing the new Beoplay A9 (2019). With new innovations and design updates and supporting Apple’s AirPlay 2 technology.

New Beoplay A9 (2019)

In terms of design, not a lot has been altered and remains as stunning as ever. With its considerable circular shape, three wooden legs, and textile fabric by the renowned Danish textile company Kvadrat. However, its power cord has been refined with stylish fabric.

Internally though, there are a number of notable new additions and changes. These include:

  • Two additional full range drivers on the back of Beoplay A9 (now seven drivers in total) provide a much broader and impressive soundscape
  • Active Room Compensation which optimises sound performance based on the surroundings and gives you the best possible sound in every room of your house
  • A new and stronger streaming engine for faster performance in connectivity to e.g. Chromecast and Apple Airplay
  • Introduction of Google Assistant, allowing users to instruct the speaker by the sound of their voice

Supporting Apple’s AirPlay 2 technology brings more potential to the speaker. The technology lets you play music, radio and podcasts from one or multiple speaker systems around your home, all in perfect sync. And it’s built into iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apps, and more.

Control everything from your Apple device or the app you are streaming from. And unlike Bluetooth streaming, you can now play games or answer incoming calls without interrupting your music playing on the new Beoplay A9.
