Along with iPhone, Apple Watch is set to be one of the most popular gifts this Christmas. Mostly because of its technology, lifestyle, health, and fitness benefits. It has also become one of the best-selling wearable SmartWatch in the world.
This season Apple has two Apple Watch series to choose from, the Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple Watch Series 4. In addition, there is also Apple Watch Nike+ (Series 3 and Series 4) and Apple Watch Hermes (Series 4). So which one should you buy for Christmas?
The purpose of this guide is to give you a summary of each Apple Watch. Therefore, hopefully making your decision a little easier.
Apple Watch Series
There are two Series of Apple Watch to consider. Apple Watch Series 4, which is the newest and latest, and Apple Watch Series 3.
Both Series pack in very similar technology, have changeable Watch bands and have lifestyle, health, and fitness benefits. Both can track your health and exercises, have GPS, can receive messages and notifications, changeable watch faces, and far too many other features to list.
There are however some differences between the two. I have summarised each Apple Watch below, including their starting price in Australia.
New Apple Watch Series 4
40-mm from RRP A$599, 44-mm from A$649
The Apple Watch Series 4 is the newest Apple Watch announced by Apple. It is also the first to receive an updated design, with new larger displays, in a thinner Watch case size.
The Series 4 features a faster processor that is up to twice as fast as the Series 3, a second-generation optical heart sensor, fall detection, and more. It also has an Electrical heart sensor for ECG readings, a first for Apple Watch. Although at time of writing Apple has not enabled support in Australia due to needing to obtain medical approval.
40-mm and 44-mm case sizes
Aluminium and Stainless Steel finishes
64-bit dual-core S4 processor (Up to twice as fast as the S3 processor)
Electrical heart sensor and second-generation optical heart sensor
The Apple Watch Series 3 was released late in 2017 and remains as one of the most popular Apple Watch models sold. Despite it no longer being the newest, it packs in a substantial amount of technology and features. I personally use the Series 3, and I still find it to be significantly fast and be great at tracking my workouts, and health throughout the day.
The benefit of the Apple Watch 3 is getting an Apple Watch that is still almost as powerful as the Series 4 but at a cheaper price. It is now priced at a lower price. – now from A$399.
All Apple Watch models can be purchased from Apple’s own online store where they are offering free delivery, in-store pickup, and returns. If you order before Christmas Eve you can return your purchase up until Jan 8th, 2019 with their extended returns offer.
Apple Watch is available in a range of configurations in terms of case colour and material, and watch band.
