Yesterday at their Special Event, Apple has announced a completely re-designed iPad Pro. With an all-screen design, advanced A12X Bionic chip, FaceID, and more. In what they are calling the biggest change to iPad since the iPad.
In addition, a new Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard Folio for the new iPad Pro have been unveiled. All of which are available for order now with availability starting Wednesday, 7 November.
From the outside to the inside, Apple has completely re-designed and re-engineered everything we know about iPad Pro. Changes include:
An all-new design with larger displays (11-inch and 12.9-inch)
FaceID for secure authentication
Powerful A12X Bionic chip
Up to 1TB (1000GB) of storage
Gigabit LTE and superfast Wi-Fi
In addition, it gains support for a second-generation Apple Pencil and all-new Apple-designed keyboard.
The biggest change is no doubt the all-new design. Apple has brought the all-screen style of design we have seen on the new iPhone models to the iPad. This enables them to bring a larger display which follows the curves of the enclosure.
As a result, the entry-level display size is now 11-inch. This is an increase from the previous 10.5-inch. While the larger size, which remains at 12.9-inches has had a 25% reduction in volume.
A12X Bionic and next-generation Neural Engine
When it comes to performance, it not only is the most powerful iPad ever. It outperforms most PC computers sold today. This is because the chip has been designed by Apple themselves, along with the software. Enabling them to bring:
35% faster single-core performance
New performance controller for simultaneous use of all eight cores for an up to 90% boost during multi-threaded tasks
A seven-core, Apple-designed GPU delivers up to twice the graphics performance
Simply this means the new iPad Pro will be capable of running complex apps and games. Including full Adobe Photoshop which has been announced recently by Adobe for the iPad.
A new generation Apple Pencil and new Keyboard has also been unveiled. Available for purchase separately, they increase the creativity and productivity possibilities you can achieve on the iPad Pro.
The second-generation Apple Pencil has been updated with a new design and features. It can now be attached magnetically to the iPad Pro for pairing and wireless charging – finally. And now with a single double tap, tools and different brush types can be selected.
For increased productivity, the new Smart Keyboard Folio will come in handy. It is an Apple-designed keyboard which can be attached to the iPad Pro. Bringing a full-sized physical keyboard in a design which is light and protects both the front and back of the iPad.
Pricing and Configurations
The new iPad Pro is available in two display sizes, 11-inch and 12.9-inch. In two colours, silver and space grey, in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage sizes. And for the first time a new 1TB option. All configurations come with the option of Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular connectivity.
