Overnight, Bang & Olufsen outlined their plans to integrate Apple’s new AirPlay 2 technology into 10 of their speakers. Some of which will be from their sister-company BeoPlay.
The 10 speakers from Bang & Olufsen and Beoplay will receive a free software update during August and September 2018, to enable the feature. It’s fair to assume most future speakers also feature AirPlay 2.
The complete list includes:
- Beoplay M3
- Beoplay M5
- Beoplay A6
- Beoplay A9 mk2
- BeoSound 1
- BeoSound 2
- BeoSound 35
- BeoSound Essence mk2
- BeoSound Core
- BeoSound Shape (via BeoSound Core)
- BeoVision Eclipse (audio only)
Petros Belimpasakis, Director and Head of Sound Category and Platform in Bang & Olufsen said:
“AirPlay 2 is a seamless way to enjoy music from your favourite Apple device and is a natural extension of how people live with music. We are proud to be among the first companies to bring forward the experience of multiroom control on your Apple device and to deliver on the promise that our multiroom speakers connect with all streaming technologies.”
AirPlay 2
AirPlay 2 is a feature that is all about multi-room audio around your home. It allows you to wirelessly stream audio (including music) from your iPhone or iPad to multiple AirPlay 2-enabled speakers around your home. This includes HomePod, Apple’s wireless speaker.
