ANZ will be supporting all Visa debit, Visa credit card and ANZ American Express credit cards with Apple Pay – those with MasterCard will not be able to use Apple Pay, however support is “coming soon” according to the Apple website. You will also continue to get any benefits or rewards you may have with your cards.

“The introduction of Apple Pay is a significant milestone in our strategy to use digital technology to provide our customers with a superior experience and will be a watershed moment in the adoption of mobile payments in Australia.” – ANZ Chief Executive Officer Shayne Elliott

Once you’ve added your card to Apple Pay, you simply use your iPhone or Apple Watch to make purchases in stores with contact-less EFTPOS machines, as you likely have done so with PayWave. You will also be able to make purchases in compatible apps using Apple Pay from those devices plus compatible iPads with Touch ID.

Apple Pay is compatible with the new iPhone SE, iPhone 6s/6s Plus and iPhone 6/6 Plus, Apple Watch for in stores and iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, and iPad mini 3, for in-App purchases. For more information on Apple Pay or to order a compatible device head over to Apple.
