Apple Back To Uni Sale (Learn more)

Apple quietly updates MacBook, lowers price.

Apple have just bumped the specs on its entry-level white MacBook. The bump measures in at just 0.13GHz on the processor, 133MHz more oomph from the DDR2 SDRAM, and an extra 40GB of disk space. So now you will get a 2.13Ghz CPU, and 160GB HDD.

Also good news apple have dropped the price by $50 to $1599. Even less on the education store!

In addition, Apple now advertises battery life of “up to 5 hrs wireless productivity”, an increase over the previous advertised battery life of 4.5 hours. Finally, the new MacBook is advertised to meet new Energy Star Version 5.0 requirements and is rated EPEAT Gold, compared to a Silver rating on the previous model.

Previous:

– 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
– 2GB DDR2 Memory (667Mhz)
– 120GB hard drive
– NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
– Standard keyboard

Now:

– 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
– 2GB DDR2 Memory (800Mhz)
– 160GB hard drive
– NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics

Apple also took the wraps off its back-to-school deal which nabs a decent discount on Macs (up to $200 off MacBook Pro) and tosses in a 8GB iPod touch on-line rebate (up to $229) to sweeten the deal.

These changes are yet to reflect on the Australian Apple Site and is unclear if we will get the back-to-school deal.
