Microsoft has attacked Apple’s pricing in three videos which feature people given money to look for a notebook, often mocking Macs for being “too expensive”. Microsoft first broke the series of ads with Lauren given a $1000, she goes on to say there is only one Mac for $1000 and she would have to double her budget.
Well Apple has finally commented on the series of ads, this comes after Apple has slipped to 7.4% in the US market as sales decline.
The ads specifically target Apple’s Macs as having a higher cost than PCs. Hesseldahl rehashes the usual arguments on cost, but also gets a rare comment from Apple’s PR department on the new ads. Apple’s Bill Evans said of the ads:
“A PC is no bargain when it doesn’t do what you want …. The one thing that both Apple and Microsoft can agree on is that everyone thinks the Mac is cool. With its great designs and advanced software, nothing matches it at any price.”
It will be interesting to what Apple comes up with we all know about their famous Mac vs PC ads which has attacked Microsoft (PC) for years!
“Millions of people have switched to Mac because they love the security, stability and power that comes with world-class hardware and amazing software that just works, right out of the box,” Apple spokesman Bill Evans, told Macworld. “A PC is no bargain when it doesn’t do what you want. The one thing that both Apple and Microsoft can agree on is that everyone thinks the Mac is cool; with its great designs and advanced software, nothing matches it at any price.”
